Jambo, Gisun!
I'm absolutely thrilled to welcome you to planDisney, and what a fun question you've brought our way! I love it when a question comes in that's something we don't see every day! It gives me the chance to roll up my sleeves, dive into the details, and do a little extra research to help find the very best answer just for you!
I'm so excited to share that YES, aardvarks do indeed call
Animal Kingdom their home! You'll find these fascinating creatures over at Rafiki's Planet Watch, specifically inside
Conservation Station. It's a bit of a hidden gem, and the perfect spot for animal lovers looking to explore something a little off the beaten path.
In fact, Disney's Animal Kingdom made history in October 2020, when aardvarks Willie and Peanut welcomed the
park's very first baby aardvark! Her name is Karanga, which means "Peanut" in Swahili, a sweet tribute to her mom. Their story is featured in "The Magic of Disney's Animal Kingdom" on
Disney+, and it's definitely worth the watch if you'd like to learn more about their care and personalities behind the scenes!
To visit the aardvarks at Conservation Station, you'll need to board the
Wildlife Express Train, which departs from Harambe Station and takes you on a peaceful ride to Rafiki's Planet Watch. Just keep in mind that the last train of the day typically departs at 4:30 PM, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time for your adventure.
While you're exploring Conservation Station, don't miss
The Animation Experience, a unique and engaging activity that's perfect for artists of all skill levels. During this interactive session, a Disney animator will walk you through each step of drawing a favorite Disney character. It's a fun way to tap into your creative side, and you'll walk away with your very own hand-drawn masterpiece as a special souvenir from your day at Animal Kingdom!
Gisun, I hope this information has been helpful and you enjoy seeing the aardvarks at Animal Kingdom! Thanks for stopping by planDisney!
Have a WILD time!
