Hi, is there any benefit to purchasing a wine package before boarding (via the onboard gifts shop), rather than arranging it at dinner after we’ve seen the menu?

    Ahoy there, Minette!

Welcome aboard planDisney! It looks like your sailing is just around the corner, and if my Detective Mickey skills are serving me well, you’ll soon be stepping onto the Treasure and into a Halloween on the High Seas adventure! Before you know it, you’ll be clinking glasses while dining in restaurants that feel like scenes straight from a Disney film. Let’s uncork the mystery of wine packages together!

When it comes to pre-purchasing a wine package through Onboard Gifts, the answer is a bit of a “yes…and no” situation. Let’s start with the “yes.” Pre-purchasing can allow you to lock in the current price, which could be a good idea if there’s a price increase before you board. It’s a bit like Remy setting aside the perfect ingredients—planning ahead makes the finished experience all the more satisfying.

Now for the “no.” In some cases, waiting until you’re onboard to purchase the package is the better choice. The pricing onboard is typically the same as what you see in Onboard Gifts, but without the extra tax that’s often tacked onto pre-purchases. Plus, by waiting, you can review the actual wine list available on your specific sailing, since the Onboard Gifts list doesn’t always reflect what’s stocked in the cellar. After all, it’s more fun to pick your bottle once you can see the full menu—it’s kind of like waiting to choose your seat for the fireworks until you know exactly where the view is best!

One more helpful note: opting for a wine package instead of buying bottles individually usually saves you up to 25%. Just remember, there’s an 18% gratuity added whether you’re buying a package or individual bottles. And if you don’t finish your bottle at dinner, no worries! Your serving team will happily cork it and save it for your next meal, even if that next meal is in a different restaurant or you can take it back to your stateroom.

I hope this helps you feel ready to raise a glass and enjoy every “sip by sip” moment of your magical sailing. With the Treasure’s incredible dining rotation, each evening is the perfect chance to pair your wine with a new adventure—whether that’s a royal feast or a futuristic celebration with Minnie and friends.

Sea ya real soon as summer waves goodbye and autumn magic begins to shine,
