Hi Amanda,
Welcome to planDisney, the perfect place to get personalized tips from Guests just like you who’ve spent a lot of time exploring every corner of the
Walt Disney World Resort. And when it comes to getting to and from the airport, I just might be the right person for the job. Over the years, I’ve tested nearly every available option between Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World, whether I’m traveling solo, with friends, or with my family and all of their suitcases in tow.
Let’s start with the easiest and most familiar option. Mears Connect, operated by the same folks who ran Disney’s Magical Express, is a solid and reliable choice. You can book standard service, which involves a larger motorcoach with a few stops along the way, or choose the Express option for a more streamlined ride. The Express is shared but typically gets you to your resort with minimal wait and without multiple stops, making it feel almost like a private transfer.
If you’re looking for a little more flexibility, renting a car might be worth considering. One of the nice perks of staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel is that you’ll enjoy
complimentary parking at your resort and the theme parks. This option also gives you the freedom to explore beyond Walt Disney World. My wife and I sometimes like to swing by the outlet mall nearby for a little off-property shopping when time allows.
You might also be familiar with the popular rideshare services like Uber and Lyft. These are readily available at MCO and around the property and are especially convenient for solo travel. Personally, I tend to lean on these when I’m flying in for a quick trip by myself, but when the whole crew and their luggage are coming along, I usually look elsewhere for a little more space and comfort.
Lastly, several private transportation companies offer services similar to Mears Connect Express, but with more personalized options. A quick search online or through your preferred social media channels should pull up a few reputable choices with solid reviews. Many of these companies allow you to pre-book round-trip service and even request car seats if you’re traveling with little ones.
No matter which option you choose, getting from MCO to
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and then back to the airport from
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a breeze. If you’d like help narrowing it down further or want me to dig a little deeper into your options,
feel free to send another question. I’m happy to help make your arrival and departure as smooth as possible.
Cheers,
Brent
