If I want to book disney cruise in Feb with dvc points and I have the points when my next use year is in August, do I have to wait until August before booking?

    Ahoy There, Adam!

Welcome to planDisney. Thank you so much for sailing by with your question. How exciting that you are thinking of using your Disney Vacation Club Points to book a Disney Cruise.  Our family has done this several times, and it's such a wonderful way to maximize the magic of our Membership.

Adam, if you have an August Use Year, your 2025 Vacation Points will be available for you beginning August 1 of this year.  To book your Disney Cruise now, you could use any remaining 2024 Vacation Points or Banked Points you have available, and you could borrow ahead your 2025 Vacation Points, as long as you have the Vacation Points available to do so.

If you have already borrowed into your 2025 Vacation Points, then what becomes available to you on August 1 is any remaining 2025 Vacation Points.  Then, as of August 1, you would be able to borrow 2026 Vacation Points.

So, it really depends on how many Vacation Points you have available to you at this time, including current Use Year, Banked and Borrowed, as to whether or not you can book your Disney Cruise now or if you have to wait until your August Use Year.  I would recommend calling Member Services who can look into your specific account and advise you directly about your options.

One other thing you can do, if you do not have enough Vacation Points to cover the cost of the cruise entirely in Vacation Points, is to do a combination of Vacation Points and Cash.  The one thing to note about this, though, is that at least one person in your reservation must be paid in full using Vacation Points and the other members can be paid for using cash. You just can't split the cost of one Guest with Vacation Points and cash. On our last Disney Cruise, we used Vacation Points to pay for my oldest son's reservation and used cash to pay for the rest of us.  To do this, Member Services can assist you as it takes a little bit of magic on their end, but they would be able to wave their magic wands to assist you.

I hope this helps you, Adam. If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, sail back here to see me and I'll be so happy to help you.
