Ahoy, Brenna, and welcome to planDisney! You chose a
fantastic ship and itinerary for your first-ever cruise. Let's make sure you're all set up for a smooth sailing!
Current requirements allow a few different
travel documentation options for U.S. citizens who are taking a round-trip Bahamian cruise from Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale, or Galveston. Children 15 and younger can present a valid U.S. passport/passport card, or a valid Trusted Traveler Card. Alternatively, they can present an original, state-issued birth certificate. The same options are available for adults, except that a physical, government-issued photo ID must also be shown with a birth certificate.
Check for important travel guidelines and regulations relevant to your specific itinerary under "Already Booked" and then "My Reservations" on the
Disney Cruise Line website.
Since this is your first cruise, Brenna, I'll share some information about the check-in process. As your sailing gets closer, you'll be prompted to complete the
Online Check-In. Prior to this, it's a good idea to take photos of your travel documents, as well as a photo of each person from the shoulders up against a plain background (similar to a passport photo). You'll need to upload these as part of the check-in process. You'll also select a port arrival time and can register your kids for the Oceaneer Club. Once this is complete, you'll receive your Port Arrival Form – print it out and add it to your physical travel documents.
Here are a few more tips that you might find helpful:
- Make sure you have the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. Once you board the ship and connect to Wi-Fi, you'll find the most up-to-date information about onboard activities and other details specific to your cruise. My kids absolutely love silent disco, trivia, karaoke, Character greetings, and deck parties.
- The Oceaneer Club is for kids ages 3 to 10, so both of your kids should be able to go there. There are themed play spaces, crafts, toys, and more to discover. On the Disney Wish, you'll check in your kids and they'll go down a slide to the fun. There are Open House hours when the whole family (parents included) can go to the youth club together – you may even be able to use the slide to get there!
- Your cruise will have a Pirate Night – pack a pirate-themed outfit or costume, and look forward to a special dinner menu, swashbuckling entertainment, and more. Schedules are subject to change, but it looks like this will take place on Night 2 of your cruise.
Brenna, I hope you and your family have the most magical time aboard the Disney Wish. There are so many fun activities and adventures waiting for you! If you think of any other questions ahead of embarkation day, please reach out – we're always happy to help here at planDisney.
