I booked a trip that I need to cancel. How do I do that?

Hi Carrie. Welcome to planDisney. I’m sorry to hear that your plans have shifted and that you need to cancel your upcoming trip. I know how much time, anticipation, and heart go into planning a Disneyland Resort vacation. I’m here to walk you through the steps so that your cancellation process is as smooth as possible, and hopefully to keep a little Disney magic on the horizon for when you’re ready to return.

There are a few different methods for canceling a Disneyland Resort vacation, depending on what you’ve booked. If you need to cancel a Vacation Package (which includes a hotel stay and theme park tickets), you can do so either through the Disneyland app or by logging into your MyDisney account on the Disneyland website. Two important things to keep in mind: if you cancel 31 days or more before your scheduled arrival, you’ll receive a full refund. Also, If you cancel within 30 days of your visit, you’ll receive a partial refund, with the initial $200 deposit being non-refundable. If you’d like to read through the details, the Vacation Package Terms & Conditions are a great resource.

If you're canceling a hotel-only reservation, the process is similar. Just log in to your MyDisney account via the Disneyland app or website and select the “My Hotel Reservations” link to manage or cancel your booking. You can also reach out to the Hotel Reservations line, where a kind Cast Member will be happy to assist you.

Unfortunately, Disneyland tickets are non-refundable. That said, one-day tickets are typically valid for 16 months, so there's a good chance you can use them for a future visit. To confirm your ticket's expiration date, check the confirmation email you received at purchase, or open the Disneyland app and tap the menu icon, then “Tickets and Passes” to view your active tickets.

Here’s a bit of good news: if you’re unable to use your ticket before it expires, the value of a wholly unused ticket can be applied toward a new ticket of equal or greater value. You can also upgrade your ticket before it’s used, whether it’s adding a park hopper or choosing a different day. Just call the Tickets phone line to speak with a Cast Member who can help guide you through your options.

Carrie, I hope this information gives you a little peace of mind as you navigate these changes. When you're ready to plan your next Disney adventure, we’ll be right here waiting to help at planDisney.

Wishing you a day sprinkled with pixie dust and hopeful possibilities,

    David
