Hi Martina!
Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney with this question. It's one that's close to my heart, because my teenage son has the same allergy. And let me tell you, it’s such a bummer that he can’t enjoy that iconic Walt Disney World popcorn smell without worrying about coconut oil. I totally understand how tricky it can be to navigate snacks with that kind of sensitivity, especially when you're trying to enjoy some
seasonal Halloween magic in Magic Kingdom!
The good news? You're not out of options! While it’s true that most popcorn carts around the parks do use coconut oil, there are still lots of treats and snacks you can enjoy. You just need a little pixie-dusted planning. My number one tip is to ask to see the ingredient binder at any snack or food location. Every Disney dining location, even snack carts, keeps one on hand so Guests with allergies can check ingredients for themselves. It’s a game changer!
For Halloween treats in particular, many of the spooky seasonal snacks are made fresh at bakery locations like
Main Street Confectionery or Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, and those locations are great about checking ingredients and offering alternatives. You might also try the allergy-friendly treats at places like
Liberty Square Market, or grab a fruit or frozen treat from a cart that doesn’t cook with oil.
Since offerings can change year to year (and day to day!), I highly recommend speaking with a Cast Member at each location before purchasing anything, just to be safe. If you’ll be dining at any Quick-Service or Table-Service restaurants, you can also note your allergy in the My Disney Experience app when placing a Mobile Order or making a dining reservation.
And if you ever need more help in the moment, ask to speak with a chef—they are truly amazing at customizing meals safely. I know it can be a little extra work when managing a food allergy, but from one coconut-free family to another: Disney is one of the best places we’ve found for navigating it with confidence. I hope your visit is full of delicious (and safe!) magical moments.
Wishing you all treats and no tricks,
Emille
