Hi Amy,
Welcome to planDisney! It's great to see you're already thinking ahead to your 2026
Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Planning early is always a good idea, especially when you're dreaming about some fun in the sun at Disney's incredible water parks.
This summer has been extra magical for water park fans. For the first time in several years, both
Disney’s Blizzard Beach and
Typhoon Lagoon are open at the same time. It’s been such a cool surprise to see Guests able to bounce between both experiences, from the snowy slopes of Mount Gushmore to the wave-packed shores of Typhoon Lagoon, all in the same season. But this wave of water park fun is limited-time only. Disney has shared that both parks will remain open through September 7, 2025, and then we expect to return to the typical rotation, where one park closes for seasonal updates and enhancements.
Disney hasn’t officially said which park will close after that date; however, the calendar currently shows Typhoon Lagoon operating a few days beyond September 7. That may hint that Blizzard Beach will be the one to take its turn for refurbishment, but things can always shift based on weather, operational needs, and maintenance schedules.
And as much as I wish I could summon Madame Leota to peer into the future of Disney’s water park schedule, we’ll all have to wait a little longer for the official word. I recommend keeping an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for the latest updates as 2026 gets closer.
Whether you find yourself splashing down Summit Plummet or drifting along Castaway Creek, there’s nothing quite like spending a warm Florida day at a Disney water park. If you’d like help picking the best water park for your family’s vibe, or want some tips on how we make the most of our water park days, I’d be happy to share more.
Just say the word!
TTFN,
Brent
