What is the difference between lightening lane and genie + and what is the price difference?

Hi there, Sandy! Sending you a sunny California welcome from planDisney!

Oh, you have picked a truly "practically perfect in every way" time to visit the Happiest Place on Earth! The magic of the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration combined with the festive cheer of the holidays is a recipe for some amazing core memories.

Your question about Genie+ and Lightning Lane is an excellent one, and I'm happy to clear it up for you. To put it simply, the service you knew as Genie+ is now called Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Think of it as a magical name change—the function and benefits you remember are still there, just under a new title! With Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you'll pay one price for the day (which can vary depending on how busy the parks are) and then, using the Disneyland mobile app, you can book arrival times at the Lightning Lane queues at lots of attractions across both parks. Additionally, you also have the option of Lightning Lane Single Pass. This is your go-to for those can't-miss, ultra-popular attractions like Radiator Springs Racers or Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

Now, separate from the paid Lightning Lane options is a fantastic complimentary tool that is still very much a part of the magic: the Disney Genie Service. This feature is still available to all guests right in the Disneyland app, and I personally think it's one of the best planning tools around! Think of it as a magical guide in your pocket. You can tell Genie your must-do attractions and experiences, and it will create a personalized itinerary just for you. It cleverly updates in real-time, suggesting the best times to visit attractions based on wait times, and even plans around existing dining reservations. It’s a wonderful way to navigate your day with ease.

If I can leave you with one extra sprinkle of pixie dust, Sandy, it's this: the Tip Board in the Disneyland app, where you make your Lightning Lane selections, is constantly changing! If you don't see the attraction or time you're hoping for, don't give up. Keep pulling down on the screen to refresh the page. You'd be amazed how often the perfect time will magically appear as other Guests' plans shift. A little patience and persistence can really pay off! To access the Tip Board in the app, simply tap the menu (≡) button, then select “Today’s Plans”. You’ll then see the Tip Board button at the top of the screen.

I hope this clears everything up and helps you feel ready to make the most of every magical moment, Sandy. You’ll be visiting during such a spectacular time at the Disneyland Resort, with both the 70th Celebration and the holidays creating an unforgettable atmosphere. I am so excited for you to experience it all and hope you have an absolutely wonderful and memory-filled visit!

    See ya real soon!
