Aloha, Diane, and welcome back to planDisney!
There's something so magical about staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, isn't there? My family loves staying at Disney resorts for
the perks, the pixie dust, and most of all, for the
location. For me, there's something extra special about resorts that offer convenient access to the parks. Whether I'm zipping along on the monorail, soaring through the sky on the Disney Skyliner, or enjoying a sunset voyage across the Seven Seas Lagoon, the journey to the parks is always half the fun! But if there's anything better than a park commute that's also an attraction,
it's the ability to get there on my own two feet.
I always say that choosing a favorite Disney World resort is like choosing a favorite child - completely and utterly impossible! But
impossible things are happening every day, aren't they? So today, I'll come right out and say it:
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa are my favorite go-to resorts. Why? It's not only because of the laid-back island vibes at the Polynesian, or the Disney-bougie atmosphere over at the Grand Floridian (though they sure don't hurt, do they?). For me, it's all about the easy access to
Magic Kingdom Park!
Diane, I am happy to report that you can absolutely walk from the Polynesian to the Magic Kingdom. Just as you suspected, you'll take the footpath that runs in front of the Island Tower and follow it toward the Grand Floridian. The paths will merge near Disney's Wedding Pavilion, and then continue past the Grand Floridian's Beach Pool and the main lobby beyond. Keep going past Gasparilla Island Grill, and you'll be well on your way to Magic Kingdom. Just follow the signs, and you'll be there in no time! Just keep in mind that the entire walk may take anywhere between 25 and 35 minutes, depending on your pace.
Over the years, my family has used the footpath many times to avoid crowds after the fireworks, to skip the wait at the boat launch, or just because we're in the mood for a peaceful stroll. When it comes to The Most Magical Place on Earth, some of our favorite memories come from the quiet moments between the action! And I promise you, there's nothing more magical than an evening walk along the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon, with the welcoming lights of the Polynesian glowing in the distance (just don't forget the bug spray!).
Diane, I hope this information is helpful and that your upcoming stay is full of memories and magic! If you have any other planning questions, you know where to find us right here at

See ya real soon,
Allison
