Hiya, Jonathan, and thanks for stopping by planDisney! I suspect you're visiting during this busy holiday season since you're concerned about park capacity, so let's jump right in to talk about how that typically works. I can't bear to imagine you being turned away from the magic!
Today is New Year's Eve! Can you believe how quickly the past 12 months have gone? Moving on to a shiny new year is a popular time for guests to visit
Walt Disney World Resort. I suspect they've heard the old tale that whatever you do at the beginning of the year will set the tone for the next 12 months. I don't blame them for starting 2025 at Disney!
Theme parks rarely reach capacity, but it does happen. New Year's Eve, July 4, and Christmas are typically when this happens, but I'm wishing on a bright new star that no one gets turned away tonight. And when parks do close, it's always to keep guests safe. There are a few ways to see if a park is admitting guests, so let's don our party hats and check it out.
First, you can call (407) 560-5000 to hear a recorded message about which parks are accepting new guests. While this information can change quickly, I just called and heard that all parks are open to new admissions. If a theme park is at capacity, the recording will say so. Remember that even if a park reaches capacity, it could open back up once enough guests leave.
Another way to check is to select "Park Hours & Info" on your
mobile app's Welcome screen. Tap the current date, and you'll see each park's Park Hopper Availability and hours. If a park has reached capacity, there should be a note where the Park Hopper information would be. You can also see
information about park hopping availability on the online calendar.
I've also heard friends say they've received a text or push notification when a park closes, but that probably depends on their phone type and app settings. I wouldn't count on that, but your phone might alert you about park capacities.
Finally, feel free to ask any Cast Member at
Guest Relations which parks are available. This can help you decide if you want to hop, but remember that a park could fill up while you're traveling there.
My top tip during this busy time is to settle in at a park in the afternoon and stay put. Once you've scanned in, you're golden! Soak up all the magic the park offers; you can't make a bad choice because all four theme parks are fabulous.
Jonathan, I hope the coming year is full of happiness and pixie dust. Please
stop by planDisney anytime! Ring in 2025 with Mickey for me!
Magic awaits,
Elaine
