Welcome to planDisney Brittany, and thank you so much for sending in your question! It’s great to hear that you’re planning a
Walt Disney World vacation with your in-laws. Traveling with extended family can make a trip even more special, and coordinating plans ahead of time is a wonderful way to ensure everyone enjoys the magic together. Lightning Lane selections are an important part of planning your park days, and I’m happy to help you understand how to manage them smoothly when tickets are on separate reservations.
The easiest way is to link your in-laws to your
My Disney Experience account before you purchase or book anything. Even though their tickets were bought on a separate reservation, you can still manage
Lightning Lane selections together. Have your in-laws link their tickets to you through the
Family & Friends feature in My Disney Experience. Once they are connected, their tickets will appear in your app alongside yours.
After they’re linked, you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass for everyone in one transaction from your account. When you go to book Lightning Lane return times, you’ll be able to select all members of the group at the same time, which is what allows you to get the same attraction and return window for everyone.
The most important thing is to do the linking ahead of time, ideally at least a day before you plan to book Lightning Lanes, so there are no surprises when booking opens. As long as everyone has a valid ticket and is linked in Family & Friends, separate reservations do not cause any problems.
Brittany, I hope this helps you feel prepared as you coordinate plans for your entire group. Planning ahead like this can make a big difference in keeping everyone together and enjoying the attractions you’re most excited about. Thank you so much for visiting planDisney with your question, and I wish you and your family a Walt Disney World vacation filled with smooth planning, shared memories, and plenty of magical moments.
