Welcome back to planDisney, Kerri!
Thanks for thinking of me as you are dreaming about your next Walt Disney World Resort adventure! As you probably surmise, I'm always dreaming about my next adventure, too!
When my daughters were young, we loved riding the
Disney Resort Monorail and making stops at each of the Disney Resorts Collection Hotels along the way. We loved grabbing a little treat, visiting the gift shops, and exploring the lobby at each hotel. These days, our "Monorail Crawl" might look a bit different, though just as fun. So, let's get going, but first: "Please stand clear of the doors! Por favor manténganse alejado de las puertas!"
Our first stop will be Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. After taking a moment to admire the lovely lobby in the Great Ceremonial House, we will head straight to
Pineapple Lania for a delicious DOLE Whip® (with or without a rum floater). There is something extra refreshing about the Polynesian backdrop and catching a peekaboo view of Cinderella Castle. If you are searching for an adult beverage and a more substantial snack, let's take the walkway to the new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The
Wailulu Bar & Grill will convince you that Seven Seas Lagoon is somewhere in the South Pacific. I'd hula my way there just to try the Ahi Tuna Crisps.
As we reboard the Highway in the Sky, our next stop is Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, where we must enjoy the beautiful music and nostalgic ambiance before taking the grand staircase up to the also grand
Enchanted Rose Lounge. We could share some Smoked Trout and Crab Dip and an alcohol-free B&B (a delightful blend of fresh brewed Twinings of London® Iced Tea, lemon, blueberry, and basil). If we are in the mood for a signature cocktail, I'm ordering an equally refreshing Garden Daisy (Don Julio Reposado Tequila, Midori, lime, and cucumber).
As we pass through
Magic Kingdom Park on our way to the Grand Canyon Concourse Station of Disney's Contemporary Resort, make sure to wave at the Guests waiting to board
Walt Disney World Railroad on Main Street, U.S.A. At the Contemporary, let's head up to
Outer Rim for either a Sunset or a Blood Orange Margarita (or both, since it is our last stop!). After we've enjoyed the sunset, we can stop at Contempo Café for a Monorail S'mores Brownie to commemorate our fun outing.
One other tip, if it is the holiday season, our focus is all about the decorations and gingerbread displays in the hotel lobbies. A gingerbread treat from the Grand Floridian is a must, just like
my planDisney pal Elaine says!
Kerri, like my time on planDisney, it appears we've come to the end of our journey this time around. Thanks for trusting me with your Disney vacation questions! And, as they say on my favorite mode of transportation, the Disney Resort Monorail, "If you’re exiting, please gather your belongings, watch your head and step, and take small children by the hand."
Wishing you many magical memories,
Shannon
