Hi! My family is doing two nights at Aulani. What are your "can't miss" activities for a family of five (three kids ages 8 to 11).

    Aloha Corey,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with a question about my favorite Disney Beach Resort: Aulani. Ah, I can picture the elegant towers that overlook the serene Ko Olina lagoon; it's a true piece of paradise! My kids reference our time at Aulani often and can't wait until we travel there again.

As a parent of four kids around the same ages as yours, I can confidently say your children are in for a fantastic time at Aulani. With so many engaging activities offered, here are a few that became instant favorites for my family.

    • Aunty's Beach House: This supervised activities club is where kids ages 4-12 can explore Hawaiian culture, art and music led by dynamic Cast Members. The activities have a unique theme and change daily. Aunty's Beach House offers complimentary activities in addition to Premium activities. Guests can pre-register their children on the website so the check-in process will run smoothly.
    • Character Experiences: My family loved meeting Mickey and friends at various locations around Aulani. The Characters are often decked out in Hawaiian-style outfits - it's so fun to say aloha and experience Disney Magic!
    • Menehune Adventure Trail: This was my kids' favorite activity offered by the Pau Hana Room. It's a scavenger hunt that uses an iPad to discover various surprises around the resort. Some of these are more impressive in the evening so if timing works for your kids, I recommend heading to the Pau Hana Room 1.5-2 hours before it closes so you can register and experience the scavenger hunt at dusk.
    • Waikolohe Valley Pool Area: The minute my kids set eyes on the winding Waikolohe Stream and the fiery Pu‘u Kilo, home to Volcanic Vertical (a thrilling body slide) and Tubestone Curl (a tube adventure), I knew we'd be spending a lot of time enjoying the water fun! Guests are required to wear a wristband when using the pools, pool chairs and beach chairs. Wristbands are available at any towel station upon presentation of your room key. Save time and get the following day's wristband later in the afternoon, so you can start enjoying the water first thing!

    • Mo'olelo Fire Pit Storytelling: This is the perfect close to an evening - Uncle Ito shares enchanting Hawaiian tales around the glowing fire pit. This is a popular activity, and can fill up fast, so I recommend going early.
    • Rainbow Reef Feeding: Aulani is home to the only private snorkeling lagoon on the island of O'ahu, and here, Guests can snorkel with hundreds of tropical fish! My kids were fascinated with the marine life (the angelfish are their favorites!), and they loved searching for the hidden Menehune in the rocks.

Corey, I hope you and your family have a wonderful time at Aulani. We truly enjoyed our stay and appreciated the mix of activities, from cultural experiences to simply relaxing by the pool. We tried many activities during our stay and found plenty to keep us busy, so much so that we’re dreaming of another trip to cover everything we missed.

Wishing you an enjoyable and memorable stay at Aulani - I'm positive you'll make some wonderful core memories of your own!

A hui hou (this means until we see each other again in Hawaiian),
    Candace
