Hiya, Ted! Welcome back to planDisney. Thanks for visiting planDisney with your excellent question.
Whether your mother-in-law will be using a wheelchair or not, if she's got decreased mobility, an
accessible room might be a great choice for her. Wheelchair-accessible rooms offer roll-in shower options, and bathtubs/showers with grab bars to help with balance. You can find photos of these accessible rooms on the
Disneyland website during hotel booking. Just be sure to check the box next to "Accessible Rooms" before searching!
Before your visit, I also encourage you to read up on the
Mobility Disabilities page of the Disneyland Resort website. It provides lots of information on how to make your family's trip to the Happiest Place on Earth enjoyable when navigating mobility issues.
Ted, I also want to remind you that
wheelchairs and ECV rentals are available at the resort. However, the daily rentals are on a first-come, first-served basis, so I recommend arriving at the parks before they open if this is something your mother-in-law is interested in. If you think she might be interested in a length-of-stay ECV rental, ScooterBug, a private mobility rental company, can provide ECVs and wheelchair rentals for Guests staying at the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort. For more information and to find their contact information, please see
this page of the Disneyland website.
I hope this information helps, Ted. Please reach out to planDisney if you have any other questions!
See ya real soon,
Melissa
