Hi there, Corey. Welcome to planDisney!
I’m delighted to hear you’ll be visiting the
Happiest Place on Earth really soon, but I’m sorry about your daughter’s injury. While it may not the perfect scenario to travel with a hand injury, rest assured that your Disney vacation can still be magical!
As a healthcare provider and a parent who’s had children visit the Disneyland Resort with casts and other healing injuries, I highly recommend you get the “green light” for travel from your medical provider, especially since you’re traveling a great distance. Of course, be mindful of any physical limitations or activity restrictions your daughter may have.
In general, your daughter should be able to experience all the attractions throughout the parks despite her hand injury. Will she be wearing a cast during her visit? If so, I suggest wrapping the cast with a large plastic bag for waterproofing if your family decides to go on any wet attractions, such as
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,
Grizzly River Run, and even
Pirates of the Caribbean.
Most attractions utilize safety bars or lap belts so these should be fine for your daughter. However, please use caution when riding
Incredicoaster since it utilizes an overhead restraint that goes over the neck and chest. Also, some rides have sudden drops and jostling that may cause some discomfort.
Even though your daughter will be able to ride the following attractions, her hand injury may affect her ability to enjoy them to the fullest. These include
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters,
Toy Story Midway Mania!, and
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider Man Adventure. If you’re unsure of what to expect during the ride, please feel free to speak with a Cast Member working at the attraction for additional guidance.
I hope this information is helpful for you as you navigate your upcoming Disney vacation with an unexpected injury. Sending pixie dust to your daughter for a speedy recovery! If you have more questions for us, please don’t hesitate to stop by
planDisney again.
Have a magical day,
Kiki
