Hey there, hi there, ho there Brena!
You’re as welcome as can be at planDisney – thanks for swinging by with a great question about brunch at the Walt Disney World Resort. Ahhh, foodie friends and family... we love them, but they can also be tough to please! Never fear, I’m here to share some fresh ideas and atmospheres that will hopefully impress and satisfy your hungry group.
I highly recommend trying
Boma - Flavors of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – its unique setting and expansive flavors are sure to impress any foodie. “Boma” is a type of animal enclosure in Africa, and you’ll see this reflected in the thatched roof and rugged fence that stylishly encloses the expansive dining room. I recently enjoyed traditional African dishes of coconut oatmeal and avocado, papaya, and grapefruit salad along familiar breakfast entrees and delicious Kenyan coffee. They also offer the famous pineapple-orange-guava juice. Don’t miss the velvety goat cheese and chives scrambled eggs or the gooey cinnamon-raisin bread pudding with vanilla sauce.
Wine Bar George at Disney Springs is a heightened brunch experience with some wine country dishes – on a trip with friends, we shared several entrees for a taste of something savory and sweet to pass around the table. If you have a larger party, give the restaurant a call and request the wine room, a semi-private area that will make you feel like a star! A bonus to this location is the opportunity to shop together after your meal, but you may not be able to make a very early dining reservation as Disney Springs opens at 10:00 A.M. on most Sundays.
A hidden breakfast gem is
Ale & Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort; this is a favorite among my planDisney pals and my family really enjoyed it last year. You have the unique option of selecting the buffet or an entrée for each person, and they offer some twists on classic dishes. I was surprised by my blueberry-bacon pancakes featuring pancetta and berries in each bite!
Just a walk across Disney's BoardWalk,
Trattoria al Forno is another foodie favorite. While it currently does not have characters at breakfast, its enhanced entrees with an Italian twist leave a lingering memory of something different and flavorful for your first meal of the day. Here you’ll find Mediterranean ingredients such as caprese, polenta, fennel, and mascarpone folded into your entrees for a sure-to-please foodie favorite.
One more out-of-the-box suggestion for you, Brena. I haven't been, but others rave about the
Gospel Brunch at the
House of Blues Restaurant at Disney Springs. The full entertainment isn’t back yet but you can
sign up on their website to be notified soon about their return, which may be in time for your fall visit. Meanwhile, they still offer bottomless mimosas and southern-style cooking which is always a crowd pleaser.
I hope this gives you some new ideas for your upcoming trip and I know your foodie crew will love whatever you choose! Each location I mentioned here also offers specialty cocktails to complete your fabulous brunch style. Please come back and see us anytime for more advice or ideas to have the most magical vacation ever.
Cheers,
Amy
