We honeymooned at Disney in 1974 looking forward to celebrating our 55 anniversary there in 2029. My question is: which resort would you recommend. We’re looking at 5-7 days, would like king room, tickets to the park and would like to have the dining plan.

    Hi Mary Jo!

Welcome back to planDisney!  We’re so happy you stopped by again as you start thinking about what will be a very special trip to celebrate 55 years of living your happily ever after in the very place that your magical adventure began.  While it’s too early to start making reservations for 2029, it’s never too early to start dreaming about creating a vacation that will be practically perfect in every way!

Mary Jo, when I think about a resort fit for celebrating a special occasion, the first one that comes to mind is Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  I stayed here with my family on a recent trip and felt like Cinderella from the very moment I arrived.  You may also want to check out Disney’s Contemporary Resort to honor a bit of nostalgia, as this resort opened with Walt Disney World Resort in 1971 and would have been operating when you celebrated your honeymoon in 1974.  These resorts both offer beautiful views of the fireworks from Magic Kingdom Park each evening, delicious dining options, and easy access to both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT via the Walt Disney World Monorail.  Regardless of whether you choose to stay at one of these resorts, I'd highly recommend a dinner at California Grill to celebrate your anniversary!

Another resort option to consider is Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.  With the addition of the Gran Destino Tower in recent years, this Moderate Resort feels like you’re actually stepping into a Deluxe property.  Besides the beautiful grounds, you’ll also find upscale dining at Toledo - Tapas, Steak & Seafood, along with several Enchanting Extras here, including Sangria University, Colors of Coronado Painting Experience, and Spanish Mosaic Art.  While you would use bus transportation to access the theme parks, I find this resort feels less busy and a bit more relaxed than those closer to the parks - something you may appreciate when looking for a romantic escape!

When reservations open, you can book a vacation package that includes your resort stay, theme park tickets, and a dining plan.  Booking a vacation package means that you not only have access to the numerous resort benefits available to all Guests staying on property, but also additional Magical Extras!  My husband and I were able to plan an adult-only escape a few years ago and really enjoyed Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf.  We felt just like kids again, playing a round of mini golf and then grabbing an ice cream at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop!

I hope this information helps you start planning your magical anniversary celebration, Mary Jo!  If you have more questions or would like additional recommendations, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney!

    Cheers,
    Kristi
