It sounds like you and your husband are already set up to reserve
Lightning Lane attractions with
Disney Genie+ service. To add Genie+ to your son's previously linked tickets, there are a couple of options for you to try.
When viewing your son's ticket under "Tickets and Passes" in the
My Disney Experience app, see if you have the option to "Change Ticket" and
modify the ticket to include Genie+. If your son has his own account and manages his own plans, he may need to do this through his account. If the option to change the ticket isn't available, Disney Genie+ can be purchased on a daily basis each day you plan to use this service. Although it is available for purchase anytime after midnight the day of your theme park visit, since you can
make your first Lightning Lane reservation beginning at 7:00 am, I recommend purchasing Genie+ around 6:45 or so. It will only take a few minutes, and you can complete the transaction using the
payment method stored in your My Disney Experience account. My previously linked tickets aren't showing me the option to add Disney Genie+ in advance, so this is what I am planning to do on my upcoming visit.
Another option would be to visit any
Guest Relations location to upgrade your son's ticket to include Genie+. When I have any ticket issues I need taken care of, I like to visit the
Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs prior to the day I'm visiting the theme parks. That way I have one less thing to worry about in the morning.
