Hi I'm looking to plan my family of 5's first Disney vacation. We want to do it smart and cost effective. It would be two adults, three children ages 6, 4, 3. We would want to do all the 4 theme parks and stay on property. Dining plans maybe.

Hi there, Brionna, and welcome to planDisney!

From one New Jerseyan to another, I'm so glad you've found your way to our magical corner of the internet. Your family's first visit to Walt Disney World is a very big deal, and I'm honored to help make some magic for you and your kiddos! I know there's a fine line between making magic and blowing the budget, so let's take a look at your options for an incredible (and cost-effective!) stay.

First off, I'm so excited to hear that you're planning to stay at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel. I'm a HUGE fan of staying on property, especially for a first stay! Disney resorts offer so many benefits, from complimentary transportation to extra time in the theme parks. Plus, there's nothing quite as magical as staying "in the bubble!"

Since there are five people in your party, you'll need to look for a room that sleeps five. You may have noticed that Disney offers Family Suites and Villas at some of its resorts. However, you'll probably get the most bang for your buck with a 5th Sleeper Room at one of Disney World's Moderate Resorts, including Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. You might also consider a Family Suite at Disney's All-Star Music Resort. The suite will give you a little more space, but I'll admit I'm partial to the Moderate Resorts, since they offer more amenities and more convenient transportation options.

Okay, now let's talk about timing. Brionna, summer is generally one of the most cost-effective times to visit Disney World, and this year is no exception. Currently, the 4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket offers a discount on tickets with start dates between May 26th and September 26th, 2026. And if you're staying at a Disney resort, you'll also receive free water park admission on check-in day, between May 26th and September 8th. This is a great way to multiply the fun, without multiplying your budget! Add in Cool KIDS' SUMMER, and you're in for one magical trip!

Finally, let's talk about the Disney Dining Plan - because Brionna, I have some great news for you! If you're planning to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth this year, this Free Dining Plan for Kids in 2026 promotion will save you some serious money. My family is taking advantage of it for our upcoming stay, and I couldn't be more excited! Here's how it works: when you book a Disney World vacation package and purchase a Disney Dining Plan for each adult, you'll get a FREE Dining Plan for each child between the ages of 3 and 9. Given the makeup of your party, this represents a significant savings!

I hope this is helpful, Brionna, and that your stay is light on the wallet but heavy on the fun! If you have any other planning questions, you know where to find me right here at planDisney.

    Magic awaits,

    Allison
