Hi Scott, and welcome to planDisney.
What a thoughtful idea to surprise your granddaughter with her very own
MagicBand+ for your upcoming trip. I’m sure she’s going to love it. MagicBand+ adds a fun and convenient touch to any Disney World vacation. Not only can it be used to enter the theme parks, tap into Lightning Lanes, and open your Disney Resort hotel room, but it also interacts with certain attractions and nighttime spectaculars in really fun ways. While not a must-have, I’ve found them incredibly convenient and a great keepsake after the trip. Over the years, I’ve collected quite a few myself and like to bring multiple bands each visit, so I can switch them up depending on the park or just to make sure one is always charged and ready to go.
You can absolutely order just one MagicBand+ for your granddaughter without purchasing any others. The easiest way to do this is through
disneystore.com, where you can select from a wide range of designs and have it shipped right to your home. Once it arrives, you can bring it with you and have her parents help link it to her profile in the
My Disney Experience app before your trip. Just be sure to coordinate with them beforehand so they don’t accidentally order another one for her. One thing to note, once a MagicBand+ is linked to a Guest, it can’t be reassigned, so double-check before linking that it’s attached to the right profile.
If you and your granddaughter prefer to make it part of the experience, you can always wait to purchase one together once you arrive. Some of the best selections I’ve seen are at
Pin Traders in Disney Springs and
Pin Traders – Camera Center in EPCOT. Both locations often carry designs that aren’t available online, and choosing one in person can be a fun memory in itself.
Scott, I think your granddaughter is going to light up when she gets her very own MagicBand+. If you’d like, I can help suggest a few specific designs or colors that are popular with kids her age. Just
send me another question, and I’ll be happy to help you find the perfect one.
See you real soon,
Brent
