Hi there, Todd! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney with your question!
Test Track has been one of my favorite attractions for years. I still remember riding the original crash-test-dummy version on my honeymoon back in 1999. Now, with the attraction reimagined into version 3.0, I can’t wait to get back in the driver’s seat next month. That 65 mph loop gets me every time!
General Motors has had a collaboration with Disney for over four decades, and one of the coolest hidden gems is the GM Lounge located above the attraction. It’s reserved for GM employees and retirees, so you’ll need to show an employee card to get in. It’s a great spot to cool off with complimentary sodas and snacks while being able to look out over one of the best views of
EPCOT.
I spoke with a Guest Services Cast Member today, who wasn’t able to give me a definite answer, but after digging a little deeper, the signs are pointing in the right direction! The lounge was actually used for the Test Track media day reception, my friend
Shonette was told in August that it would be reopening Monday through Friday “in the next few weeks,” and
Kaitlin, another fellow panelist confirmed with a Cast Member recently that it’s still available for GM employees. Even GM’s own website has an article about the reimagined attraction with no mention of the lounge being closed. With all of that, I’d say you’re on the right
track for your upcoming visit!
Keep an eye out for some nostalgic Easter eggs on the ride, too! Imagineers worked in references to the classic World of Motion attraction, which I love as a retro EPCOT fan. And if you feel like
shifting gears to a different lounge, the new
GEO-82 inside Spaceship Earth is another great pit stop.
Here’s wishing you a smooth ride on your EPCOT adventure, Todd!
See ya real soon,
Eean
