Hi Elizabeth, and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney! I just love visiting Disney World in November, when the cooler weather is setting in and the resort hotels are starting to put up their holiday decorations. Now, let’s chat about choosing your very own pearl in
EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion.
The Akoya Pearls experience, inside the
Mitsukoshi Department Store, is such a fun and interactive souvenir! Last year, my family chose oysters and had them made into necklaces. The actual experience took about five minutes, which involved choosing the oysters and having a Cast Member pry them open, clean the pearls, measure them, and celebrate our finds with a bit of drumming. We even got to learn how to do the countdown in Japanese!
As you plan your day, keep in mind that you’ll likely need to wait for your turn to be called. I asked around, and it seems like the wait is typically 10-30 minutes, but it could be more if it’s a particularly busy day. While you’re waiting, you can browse the settings to see if you’d like to purchase one to show off your pearl!
While you’re in the Japan Pavilion, check the
My Disney Experience app to see if the
Matsuriza drum show is happening that day. It’s always incredible to see the beating of these giant drums! The Japan Pavilion is also one of my favorite spots to take a break. I love to grab a Kakigori shave ice from
Kabuki Cafe and head over to the koi pond to watch the beautiful fish swim around.
I hope you have a magical visit to EPCOT next month! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
