where can magic band 2 be used?

    Hi Cynthia,

Welcome to planDisney! I was so excited when Disneyland announced it would be using MagicBand technology. Having visited Walt Disney World several times, I found MagicBands incredibly helpful, and I’m happy to share my experience using them at Disneyland!

Disneyland uses MagicBand+ technology. So, if you have a MagicBand 2 from Disney World, unfortunately, it won’t work at Disneyland. You can purchase a MagicBand+ at World of Disney in Downtown Disney. There are lots of fun designs to choose from, and you can preview some of the available options at DisneyStore.com. The MagicBand+ is compatible not only at Disneyland but also at Walt Disney World and even on Disney Cruise Line!

Just so you're aware, MagicBand+ works a bit differently at Disneyland than it does at Walt Disney World. Here's a quick rundown of what you can expect:

    1. Park Entry: Link your MagicBand+ to your ticket through the Disneyland app. With Disneyland's new turnstiles, MagicBand+ helps make entry quick and seamless.

    2. Lightning Lane: You can use your MagicBand+ to redeem Lightning Lane reservations. Just tap your band at the entrance scanners. I personally love this feature because it saves me from fumbling with my phone and helps conserve battery for photos with my favorite characters!

    3. PhotoPass: After taking a photo with a Disney PhotoPass photographer, simply scan your MagicBand+ to link the image to your account. If you’ve purchased Genie+ (which includes Lightning Lane access), you’ll also receive unlimited photo downloads.

    4. Interactive Kiosks and Medallions: To celebrate the 70th anniversary, you’ll find special medallions scattered around the resort, each featuring a unique character. Your MagicBand+ will light up and vibrate when you're near one! There are also interactive ticket kiosks in different lands; tap your MagicBand+ to receive a free souvenir ticket.

    5. Nighttime Entertainment Interactions: Your MagicBand+ syncs with nighttime spectaculars! It lights up and pulses along with shows like Tapestry of Dreams and World of Color. You'll feel like part of the magic!

I hope this information was helpful, Cynthia! If you have more questions or would like additional tips for your trip, feel free to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We're always here to add a little extra pixie dust to your planning.

    Happy planning!
