Ahoy there, Anita!
Welcome aboard planDisney! What a blast from the past! Finding your old MagicBand must have felt a bit like discovering buried treasure from adventures long ago. I love when a piece of Disney magic brings back all those special memories—it’s like opening a time capsule filled with pixie dust!
Now, since your MagicBand is from eight years ago, I have some news that might make you feel a bit like Ariel discovering new gadgets and gizmos aplenty. You’ll need a MagicBand+ (or DisneyBand+ as we call them on the cruise side) for it to work onboard. The earlier generations of MagicBands don’t include the necessary technology for ship use, so even if you were able to charge it, your band would unfortunately still be more of a souvenir than a functional tool. The good news is that the
DisneyBand+ has a rechargeable battery, new interactive features, and lights up with your favorite Disney colors when you tap in around the ship—it’s pure magic in motion!
If you’d like to order new DisneyBand+ devices for your crew, open your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, select your reservation, and scroll down to find the DisneyBand+ purchase link. From there, you’ll be able to view styles available for your sailing and personalize them for each member of your party. If you don’t spot the perfect design (maybe you’re hoping for a band that makes your heart “go the distance”),
check out the Disney Store for even more variety.
And if you decide to skip the band altogether, no worries—each Guest will receive a
Key to the World card that works exactly the same for stateroom access and onboard purchases, minus the light-up flair. My family used these before DisneyBand+ was introduced at sea, and it worked perfectly fine—it just didn’t flash Mickey colors when we opened the door!
I hope this helps you find the perfect fit for your next voyage. Before you know it, you’ll be tapping your DisneyBand+ to start a brand-new chapter of memories that sparkle brighter than Rapunzel’s lanterns.
Sea ya real soon as the tides turn toward thankful hearts and joyful journeys,
Dustin
