Hi! May I apply the cost of my 3-day park hopper ticket, purchased from Costco, to the total price of a Magic Key Pass?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Patricia!

Congratulations on your decision to become a Disneyland Resort Magic Key holder. As I mentioned earlier, I'm a Magic Key holder too. I love the ability to visit more frequently at a significant savings per day. And I really love the many benefits, such as dining and shopping discounts.

I have successfully upgraded a Disneyland Resort theme park ticket purchased from a third-party seller in the past. Generally, only partially used and expired tickets, complimentary tickets, special event tickets (such as tickets to Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party), and tickets that specifically state they are ineligible for an upgrade may not be upgraded to a Magic Key pass. If your upgrade-eligible ticket is wholly unused (even if it is already expired!) you may apply the purchase price of your ticket toward a Magic Key pass upgrade by visiting one of the ticket booths at the Disneyland Resort. A partially used ticket may be upgraded within the Disneyland mobile app while the ticket is still valid.

To upgrade a partially used ticket in the Disneyland mobile app:

    1. Tap the "My Tickets & Passes" tile from the ☰ feature menu.
    2. Swipe to the ticket you wish to upgrade.
    3. Tap the "Upgrade to a Magic Key Pass" button.
    4. Follow the on-screen prompts to select from the currently available pass types and complete your purchase.
    5. California residents with an eligible address set in their MyDisney account who wish to pay for their Magic Key pass with monthly payments, must be logged into their account and use a form of payment with a matching address.
    6. The new Magic Key Pass will be valid for one year starting from the first date of use of the original ticket.

Tony's Tip: Upgrading a partially used ticket to a Magic Key pass must be done before the last day of validity for that ticket. But keep in mind that remaining theme park reservations for the original ticket will be canceled and any new reservations must be made using the new Magic Key. For that reason, be sure to check the Magic Key Calendar before upgrading your theme park ticket. If the existing park reservations tied to the ticket aren't available for the level of Magic Key pass to which you intend to upgrade, you may wish to hold off on doing the upgrade until the last day of using the ticket.

As Magic Key holders, "Nothing Can Stop Us Now!" There's plenty of magic and adventure around every corner as you enjoy your visits to The Happiest Place on Earth!

    Have a magical time, Patricia!
