My mom and my son will have scooters, both because of mobility issues. We have five people total in our group, including my mom and son. How will we do rides? Will the other three of us be required to ride separately from them?

    Hey there, Tracy!

I’m so happy to welcome you to planDisney! How exciting that your visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth is just a few short days away. After all the planning, dreaming, and counting down the days, your magical adventure is almost here! There’s nothing quite like that final stretch before a Walt Disney World vacation when everything starts to feel real. In just a few days, you’ll be walking down Main Street, U.S.A., soaking in the sights, sounds, and all the wonderful moments that make a Disney trip so special. You’re almost there!

Walt Disney World Resort does a wonderful job accommodating Guests with mobility disabilities, and accessibility is thoughtfully built into much of the park experience. I personally use a wheelchair and have been navigating the parks this way since my very first visit when I was six years old, so I can confidently say that Disney makes it very manageable.

The great news is that most attraction queues are designed to be wheelchair and ECV (scooter) accessible, which means you’ll be able to stay together with your entire party while waiting for rides. The pathways and queues are typically wide and smoothly paved, making it easy to move through the line just like any other Guest.

There are a small number of attractions where the queue cannot accommodate mobility devices. For example, “it’s a small world” in Magic Kingdom and Spaceship Earth in EPCOT have alternate procedures. When you arrive at these attractions, simply speak with the Cast Member at the entrance. They will guide you to the appropriate access point and explain how to experience the attraction with your wheelchair or scooter.

Another incredibly helpful resource is built right into the My Disney Experience app. Inside the app, you’ll find a Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities section that you can easily reference while you’re in the parks. It’s very convenient if you need quick details about attraction accessibility, companion restrooms, accessible seating areas, or other helpful services, all right at your fingertips while you’re on the go.

Disney Cast Members are always happy to assist as well, so if you ever have a question while you’re there, don’t hesitate to ask. Their goal is to make sure every Guest can fully enjoy the magic!

Tracy, I hope this helps give you some peace of mind knowing that your whole group should be able to experience most attractions together. If any other questions come up as you continue planning, please feel free to stop by and visit us again here at planDisney…we’re always happy to help!

    See ya real soon,
