Welcome to planDisney, Suzanne! I'm so glad to be able to answer your question today.
runDisney weekends have a special kind of energy, but sometimes they come with a little bit of extra planning. I'm happy to walk you through what you need to know about your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World during the
Wine & Dine Half Marathon!
I'm pleased to tell you that the
monorail will be running during race weekend, including during early entry hours for the theme parks. In fact, if you're staying at the
Grand Floridian,
Contemporary, or
Polynesian, the monorail is one of the most convenient ways to get around, and Disney makes sure it stays up and running smoothly, even during busy weekends like this one.
During runDisney events like the Wine & Dine Half Marathon, the monorail actually begins operating earlier than usual to accommodate runners heading to the race start. So if you're a participant, you'll be able to rely on it for early transportation to the race. If you're not running and just planning to head to the parks for a regular Disney day, the good news is your transportation won't be impacted. The monorails will continue running throughout the morning and day to get you where you need to be, including in time for early theme park entry, which is available for
Disney Resort Hotel guests 30 minutes before park opening.
Just keep in mind that mornings during race weekends tend to be a little more energetic, with runners, spectators, and guests all heading in different directions, so it's never a bad idea to leave yourself a few extra minutes, just in case there's a bit more activity around your resort.
But truly, Disney has these logistics down to a science. So whether you're heading to the starting line or planning to rope drop
Space Mountain, the monorail will be gliding your way bright and early.
Have a magical day, Suzanne!
