If I purchase 2 single lane lightning passes for Rise of the Resistance (one adult / one child) can we do a rider switch afterwards? Same child, different adult? Do we need to purchase more passes?

    Bright Suns, Julie!

I’m so happy to welcome you to planDisney, and thanks so much for sending your question our way. It sounds like a visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth is on your horizon, which is always such an exciting time. The countdown to a Walt Disney World adventure is half the fun, and it won’t be long before your own magical journey begins.

Using Lightning Lane passes can be a really helpful way to maximize your time in the parks, so it’s great that you’re looking into it for your trip. These passes allow you to bypass the regular standby queue and spend more time enjoying attractions, entertainment, and everything else the parks have to offer.

I also love that you’re planning to purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. It’s one of the most immersive attractions in all of Walt Disney World Resort, and stepping into that experience really feels like being part of a Star Wars adventure. It’s definitely one worth prioritizing!

When it comes to purchasing a Lightning Lane Single Pass, each person who plans to experience that attraction will need their own pass. This still applies even if you’re planning to use Rider Switch. So, for example, if two adults and one child in your group would like to ride, all three Guests would need to purchase an individual Lightning Lane Single Pass. Hopefully, that helps clear things up as you continue planning!

If you’re staying at a Disney Resort, you’ll have an early planning advantage when it comes to Lightning Lane passes. Resort Guests can begin purchasing their selections up to seven days before their arrival date, starting at 7:00 AM Eastern Time in the My Disney Experience app. Guests staying off property can still purchase Lightning Lane passes as well, but their booking window opens three days before each park day. Taking advantage of these booking windows can really help you secure the attractions you’re most excited about and make your park days a little easier to navigate.

Julie, I hope this information helps as you continue getting ready for your trip! If any other questions pop up along the way, please feel free to stop back by and visit us again at planDisney. We’re always happy to help!
