Hi, Tara! It's a pleasure to help you again. Thanks for stopping by planDisney.
Walt Disney World really does go above and beyond to make the magic accessible for everyone—including those who are
neurodivergent. Things like the
Disability Access Service (DAS), Rider Switch, or sensory-friendly spaces help ensure that every Guest, regardless of age or ability, can have a great experience. It means a lot to so many families, and it’s one of the things that makes Disney feel extra special.
You can absolutely use
Rider Switch in combination with
Lightning Lane Single or Multi Pass, even with older kids or teens. In your situation, if your 17-year-old isn’t able to ride
TRON Lightcycle / Run, you can purchase four Lightning Lane Single Passes, let part of your group ride first, and then use Rider Switch so the rest of your group can go afterward without waiting twice. The age of your kids isn’t an issue at all—Rider Switch is designed for anyone who needs to wait with someone who can’t or doesn’t want to ride, no matter their age. Just speak with the Cast Member at the entrance and explain your situation. They’re usually very understanding and helpful.
If your 17-year-old with autism is more comfortable waiting in a quieter spot, let a Cast Member know. Some attractions have nearby seating or quieter waiting areas, and they’ll often help you find the best place. You’re doing an amazing job making this trip work for your whole family, Tara. You are the magic!
Mike
