Hiya Rafael,
Welcome to planDisney! Let me first start by wishing your son a very happy early birthday. Turning 10 is so special, and I hope he has the most magical celebration at Walt Disney World Resort filled with cake.
Besides the fact that your son is one year closer to being a teenager, turning 10 is also a milestone birthday at Walt Disney World. Your son will now be considered an adult for theme park ticket purchases! But when does that officially begin? That depends on whether you have a Vacation Package. Guests who have booked a Walt Disney World Resort Vacation Package (a booking type where your
theme park tickets were purchased in the same reservation as your resort hotel) would not need to buy a different ticket type once their child celebrates their birthday. The age of your son when he checks in (9 years old) is what would be used to determine his age for the entire time your Vacation Package covers. Based on your question, Rafael, I don’t think you have a Vacation Package, so unfortunately, you would need to purchase a two-day 3-9-year-old ticket and a two-day 10+ year-old ticket for your son to use once he turns 10.
I hope this was helpful, Rafael. Before I let you go, I mentioned cake earlier, and for me, cake is the very best part of getting one year older. At select dining locations, you can reserve a
Celebration Cake to surprise the birthday boy. These chocolate cakes are pretty big, making them perfect to share with the whole family. I also love how you can personalize them to mark the occasion! If you want any more tips and tricks for celebrating at the Most Magical Place on Earth, please feel free to come back and see
us. We would love to help you in any way that we can.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
