Hi Susan,
Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for visiting and asking a question about the Lightning Lane Multi Pass - it’s a great way to pre-plan and enjoy shorter wait times for attractions at
Walt Disney World theme parks.
I recently visited the theme parks with some of my planDisney classmates and since we were on a short trip, we opted to purchase the
Lightning Lane Multi Pass so we could make the most of our time and experience as much as possible. Because we were all staying at Disney Resort hotels, we were able to pre-book three experiences per day starting 7 days before our check-in (and for the length of our stay, up to 14 days). Guests staying offsite can also take advantage of the Multi Pass, with booking windows opening 3 days in advance - based on each theme park day. International Guests can begin making their Lightning Lane selections once they have arrived in the United States.
Good news, Susan - your son and his friends can each purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass and still plan together! Since they are already linked in the My Disney Experience app, they’ll be able to select who they’d like to include in their planning party when making Lightning Lane selections. When I visited the theme parks with friends, we booked a few experiences as a group, and later on, when we split up, we were still able to choose who we wanted to continue planning with. It worked out really well!
I love how easy it is to modify Lightning Lane reservations throughout the day. If you’re planning to hop to another park, you can even make selections for your next destination ahead of time! Just keep in mind that you can book your next Lightning Lane as soon as you’ve scanned into an attraction - but some experiences have a second scan point, and you’ll need to tap in there too before you can start looking for your next one.
I hope this information is helpful to your son’s trip planning, Susan. Wishing him a fantastic stay at Walt Disney World Resort! If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to
reach out - I’d love to help.
Warm hugs,
Candace
