Greetings, Gerard! I’m sending you a magical planDisney welcome from sunny California!
What a joy to hear you’ll be visiting the Disneyland Resort this year! If your family loved your time in Orlando, I think you’ll find Walt Disney’s original park brimming with the same magic and charm—plus a few unique experiences that make it extra special.
Since your son used Disability Access Service (DAS) at Walt Disney World, you’ll be glad to know that
DAS is also available at the Disneyland Resort. The process is similar, but here’s how it works on the West Coast.
Up to 60 days in advance of a visit, Guests can
request a live video chat with a Cast Member to see if they qualify for DAS at the Disneyland Resort. This is the easiest way to set everything up before arrival. Since your visit is just a few days away, you’re well within this window. During the video call, the Cast Member will help determine eligibility and, if approved, your son’s DAS will be added to your account so it’s ready for use in the
Disneyland mobile app when you arrive. It’s important to note that your son must also be present during the video call.
If you’d prefer, you can also stop by an
Accessibility Services Kiosk near the Main Entrance Esplanade to request DAS on the day of your visit. Once registered, you’ll be able to use the Disneyland app to request attraction return times for your son and the rest of your party. The key benefit of DAS is that your son won’t need to wait in the traditional queue. Instead, he’ll be able to enjoy other parts of the park until it’s time to experience the attraction.
Gerard, one extra tip I recommend is making sure your family’s tickets are all linked together in the Disneyland app before your trip. That way, when you request a DAS return time, you’ll be able to add other members of your eligible party in just a few taps.
And last, but certainly not least, I’d love to share with you about the Disneyland Resort’s
Accessibility Planning Guide. It’s filled with helpful information for families visiting with unique needs, including a section on ‘Need A Break’ Locations. These are typically quieter areas throughout the resort where your son can take a moment to rest and recharge away from the hustle and bustle of the parks. Having these spots in mind before you arrive can be a wonderful way to plan breaks into your day and make the visit feel even more comfortable for him.
Gerard, I hope this helps you feel confident about the process for your upcoming visit! The Cast Members at Disneyland Resort are truly wonderful about helping every Guest experience the magic. Here’s wishing your family a visit that’s as smooth as it is magical, filled with unforgettable moments at every turn!
