Hey there, Mary!
I'm so happy to welcome you to planDisney! Your trip to Walt Disney World Resort is just about to begin, and that's such an exciting place to be. Those last few days before a Disney trip always feel extra magical. You're counting down, double-checking plans, and imagining all the fun that's about to happen. I'm honored to be a small part of your journey and help you get everything ready so you can step into the magic with confidence, ease, and a heart full of excitement. You're about to make memories that will last a lifetime!
I'm really sorry to hear about your ankle – what a Bibbidi Bobbidi bummer as you're getting ready for your trip! But remember, hakuna matata...it really does mean "no worries!" Walt Disney World is incredibly accommodating for Guests using wheelchairs or scooters, so getting around the parks should still be smooth sailing. With a bit of planning and a sprinkle of pixie dust, you'll be all set to enjoy a wonderful vacation!
Since you brought up
Disability Access Service (DAS), let's chat about that for a moment. DAS is a program specifically designed for Guests who have developmental disabilities that make it difficult to remain in a standard standby queue for extended periods of time. It isn't geared toward situations involving mobility challenges or the use of wheelchairs and scooters.
The great news is that Disney World really goes above and beyond when it comes to
mobility access. Speaking as someone who uses a wheelchair myself, I can honestly say the accessibility throughout the parks is one of the big reasons my family returns again and again. From attractions and pathways to transportation and queue design, Disney does an incredible job making sure everyone can experience the magic with ease.
Of course, if you'd prefer to have a
live video chat with a Cast Member, you're more than welcome to do that as well. They can walk you through options, answer questions in real time, and offer personalized suggestions for your visit.
Before your trip, I highly recommend downloading the
My Disney Experience app to your mobile device. In the "Accessibility and Health Services" section, look for "Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities." It's filled with practical information, tips, and guidance that can help you plan ahead...and it's super convenient to reference when you're in the parks, too.
Mary, I hope this helps you feel more prepared for your upcoming trip! Wishing you a truly enchanting visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth. And if anything else comes to mind, don't hesitate to stop by. Your friends here at planDisney are always happy to help!
Magic Awaits,
Kami
