Hi there - can you tell me if any of the Disney cruises that go to Alaska have any stops at any of the official national parks in Alaska?

    Hi there, Andrea!

Our family's first cruise was to Alaska. We've been hooked on Disney cruise vacations ever since, but especially the Alaska cruise itineraries.

    Standard Alaska Ports of Call

When your Alaska cruise stops in Skagway, Port Adventures may visit one of multiple National Historic Sites, such as Fort William H. Seward and the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. A few miles north, enjoy the beauty of British Columbia and the Yukon Territory, including the Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site.

My planDisney pal Angie has great recommendations for other national treasures found in southeast Alaska. I loved reading how her daughter led the way as they explored the Mendenhall Glacier and Tongass National Forest during a visit to Juneau. Angie has also piqued my interest in experiencing the Misty Fjords National Monument from Ketchikan.

    Longer Alaska Cruises

A few Alaskan ports of call which are further north on the Alaskan panhandle may only be available on longer itineraries. If one of these cruises matches your travel plan, I highly recommend it.

During our 9-Night Alaska Cruise a few years ago, we sailed through Disenchantment Bay to view Hubbard Glacier within the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve. The massive glacier is an incredible sight to behold. Visits to Hubbard Glacier are only made by sea, without docking at a port of call. Your experience can be enjoyed from the comfort of your cruise ship. A limited number of seats may also be available on an expedition vessel offering an even closer look at the glacier.

On that same cruise, we enjoyed a visit to Sitka. Some of the Port Adventures available in Sitka visit the Sitka National Historical Park. We admired the majestic totems and immersed ourselves in the rich tapestry of local cultures and peoples.

Icy Strait Point was another favorite port on our longer Alaska cruise. Chichagof Island's natural beauty was more than enough to satisfy our search for adventure. The views from the island also amazed us. Viewed across the channel, the vistas of Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve were stunning. Higher up at White Alice Site on Hoonah Mountain or from the Sky Peak Gondola, the views were especially impressive.

As you can see, many adventures that await you as you travel to Alaska on the Disney Wonder or the Disney Magic. I'm sure you'll have an amazing time, Andrea!
