Welcome to planDisney, William.
I’m sorry to hear you’ve run into a hiccup trying to order your MagicBands ahead of your upcoming visit to the
Most Magical Place on Earth. I actually ran a quick test myself and ran into the same message you mentioned when attempting to ship a few specific MagicBands to a California address. After tinkering around a bit, I found that some bands triggered the “can’t ship to California” message while others did not. Once I removed the item causing the issue from my cart, checkout went through without a problem. I even reached out to a Cast Member to double-check, and while they weren’t sure why it happens with certain designs, their recommendation was to contact the
Help Center and speak with App and MagicBand Support for clarification or assistance completing your order.
That said, William, if you want to save yourself the hassle, I’d suggest waiting until you arrive to pick up your MagicBands in person. Some of the best selections I’ve seen are available at
Pin Traders in Disney Springs and
Pin Traders – Camera Center in EPCOT. Both locations typically carry a wider variety of styles, colors, and limited-edition options than what’s online. It’s also a fun way to start your vacation, doing a little shopping and letting each member of your group find the perfect band that fits their personality.
Linking them to your
My Disney Experience account is quick and easy once you’ve made your purchase. Just open the app, tap the menu icon (three lines in the bottom right), select “MagicBands & Cards,” choose “Link Your MagicBand or Card,” and then simply tap the new band to the back of your phone. In just a few seconds, you’ll be ready to tap into the parks, your Disney Resort hotel room, and more.
I hope this helps get your trip off to a smooth start, William. If you’d like some additional shopping or planning recommendations before you arrive,
send me another question. I’d be happy to help.
Cheers,
Brent
