What wheelchair accessible rides are there for those that cannot walk or stand?

    Hey there, Lynne!

I'm so happy to welcome you to planDisney, and I really appreciate you stopping by with such an important question. You've absolutely come to the right place! I was especially glad to see your question because I'm a wheelchair user myself, which means I've spent my lifetime learning all the ins and outs of navigating Walt Disney World with a mobility device. From visiting the parks as a kid, to exploring them now with my own family and two children, I've gathered so many helpful tips and firsthand experiences along the way.

Walt Disney World offers a wide range of attractions designed with accessibility in mind, including many that feature Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAV). These rides allow you to remain in your wheelchair for the entire experience if you prefer, which can make boarding and enjoying the attraction much easier and more comfortable. A complete up-to-date list of these attractions is available online, so you can plan your visit ahead of time and know exactly which experiences will work best for you.

In addition to WAV-accessible attractions, many rides offer transfer access, where you have the option to move from your wheelchair to the standard ride seat. This might include a seat with a folding bolster, a door with a swinging threshold, or a transfer board.

I highly recommend checking out Disney's Accessibility Planning Guide and Recommendations before your trip. It's an excellent resource that outlines all the services, accommodations, and helpful tips available throughout the parks, making it much easier to plan ahead. In addition, the My Disney Experience app has a dedicated section for Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities, giving you quick access to information when you're in the parks. This makes it super convenient to find what you need on the go. Whether it's attraction accessibility details, seating areas, or other helpful services.

Lynne, I hope this helps as you continue planning your visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth! If you have any other accessibility questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly. I love helping Guests like you make memories that will last a lifetime!

    Magical Wishes,

    Kami
