Hi, my 22 year old daughter has a Disney Visa, and wants to use it to get her discount on board. We’re all in one cabin with my name on the reservation. Can I link her card for purchases and we can all get the discount? Or can we link her card to her?

    Hey there, hi there, Beth,

As a Disney Premier Visa Card holder myself, I've found it to be a convenient and rewarding way to pay for our Disney cruise vacations. There are lots of ways your daughter can use her Disney Visa Card for savings during your Disney Cruise. Special savings offers are available for select spa treatments on port days, a unique selection of packages at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point or Disney Castaway Cay, digital photo packages, and even onboard merchandise purchases.

To take advantage of the 10% discount offer for onboard purchases, the Disney Visa Card must be registered as the only form of payment for all onboard purchases for a Guest. This needs to be done in advance after your online check-in window opens up, which is 30 days before sailing for first-time cruisers, or even earlier for Castaway Club members. Any adult in the stateroom may register a form of payment and declare whether they allow their form of payment to cover charges of any selection of the other Guests in the same stateroom. By registering a form of payment in advance, your Key To The World Card (stateroom key card) will have the Disney Visa Cardmember status printed on it. When making onboard purchases eligible for the discount, simply show the card to the Cast Member in the shop and request the discount offer.

Be sure to take a look at the terms for the merchandise savings offer, including noting which items may be excluded from the discount offer. I also recommend that the Disney Visa Cardholder bring the physical card with them on their Disney cruise. It may be helpful to verify eligibility in case there is an issue with printing that status on the Key To The World Card. Terms and conditions may also change. So it's a good idea to verify with the Cast Members onboard so that you get the best available offers.

There are other discount offers that may also be available. Returning Castaway Club members who have reached the Gold, Platinum, or Pearl status receive special discounts onboard. Members of the Disney Vacation Club with qualifying Membership Extras benefits may also be eligible for onboard savings. Another way I like to save on our Disney Cruise Line Vacations is by purchasing Disney Gift Cards at a discount from certain vendors ahead of time. I can apply their value to our onboard account ahead of time. During our cruise, I can use them as payment toward our onboard account, particularly if I have set up our account to be paid with cash or another form of payment. One of my favorite ways to save on a Disney cruise is to take advantage of the future sailing discount offer by booking a placeholder cruise while still onboard.

Happy sailing and happy saving, Beth!
